Swale flouts Freedom of Information Act
24 Apr 2006
Bapchild Parish Council has been forced to report Swale Borough Council to the Information Commissioner's Office after it failed to provide information under the Freedom of Information Act. The Information Commissioner's Office is the UK's independent public body set up to promote access to official information and they will now investigate this matter further.
This comes at a time when a number of questions have been raised over the handling of various consultation exercises and this does nothing to alleviate to these concerns. Whether Swale Borough Council has anything to hide or not the mishandling of this request does not inspire confidence where little existed in the first instance.
