Kent Science Park to develop south of M2

Proposals have been brought before Swale Borough Council to develop the Kent Science Park on the south side of the M2. The revelation that the Kent Science Park wishes to expand on an even larger footprint than originally proposed five years ago has shocked many people. The proposed land to the south of the M2 falls within the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and surrounding land which is contained within a Special Landscape Area.
This follows repeated claims by the Kent Science Park that the larger scale expansion plans for a new road and thousands of houses are not being pursued at this time.
The proposed development would also be bad news for the Scouting association who own a site on the opposite side of the road in Bexon Lane, Bredgar, described as environmental area with wildlife, trees and an outdoor chapel.
The prospect that children will be camping just meters away from an industrial park is sure to alienate parents all over Swale.
