Fantastic public response to FPOG petition
The people of Sittingbourne gave the clearest signal yet that they do not want the expansion proposed by the science park. The Five Parish Opposition Group set up stall in Sittingbourne high street yesterday as part of their own consultation exercise and managed to collect a staggering 734 signatures in a single day.
Monique Bonney Chairman of FPOG said “We had not even managed to erect the display before we had a queue of people lining up to sign the petition.”
Andy Hudson said “The people of Sittingbourne were obviously aware of the proposals especially through the letters page of the East Kent Gazette, but we were able to fill people in on the precise details and people were genuinely quite shocked.”
The Five Parish Opposition Group will be back in action in Sittingbourne High Street next week for anyone who missed out and would like to sign the petition. Plus we'll be out and about around the villages in the coming weeks.
