TRAFFIC-calming measures on rural roads around Kent Science Park were
considered by councillors>

Members of the joint transport board had received a petition from people living in Ruins Barn Road in Tunstall requesting traffic calming, but a survey by Kent Highway Services found no record of speeding or injury crash problems.

At the meeting last month, it s suggested that no futher action be taken regarding Runs Barn Road but that further reports on proposed traffic calming in Richmond Street and Marine Parade in Sheerness should go ahead.

Chalkwell ward Cllr Roger Truelove said: "I don't think this is the end of the issue. Traffic will continue to increase with the growth of the Science Park"

"The whole area of rural south Sitingbourne needs to Be looked at in its totality. It is just rat-run now."

Hartlip, Newington and Upchurch ward Cllr John Wright suggested: "We need a or approach to the improvements planned for Leysdown Road and Jenkins Hill, which is also used as an alternative route during rush hour."
