New homes dilemma

30 Nov 2007
A CAMPAIGNER against the expansion of the Kent Science Park has dismissed reports that the Park has anything to do with insufficient affordable homes being built in the area.

A story published in this news-paper (Kent Messenger) on November 16 said that local people will be forced to move because not enough affordable homes are being built in the Thames Gateway. A report by the Government's Public Accounts Committee said that a decision not to consider the creation of a new motorway junction at Sittingbourne, to give access to the proposed Park and 5,000 planned homes, is just one factor in the hold-up.

But the chairman of Bapchild parish council Andy Hudson, said: "This is untrue and does not have a bearing on housing allocation in Swale, let alone affordable housing being built.
