New homes dilemma
30 Nov 2007
A CAMPAIGNER against the expansion of the Kent Science Park has dismissed reports that the Park has anything to do with insufficient affordable homes being built in the area.A story published in this news-paper (Kent Messenger) on November 16 said that local people will be forced to move because not enough affordable homes are being built in the Thames Gateway. A report by the Government's Public Accounts Committee said that a decision not to consider the creation of a new motorway junction at Sittingbourne, to give access to the proposed Park and 5,000 planned homes, is just one factor in the hold-up.
But the chairman of Bapchild parish council Andy Hudson, said: "This is untrue and does not have a bearing on housing allocation in Swale, let alone affordable housing being built.
